Great value
After doing some research about axes I heard about husqvarna and they're quality. I liked the size of this axe for camping. Not too big but large enough for some heavier work. I really like the shape of the axe head too. It does as they said it would. It allows me to get my hand almost compley behind the edge of the axe. Also when my hand is choked up that high the axe is almost perfectly balanced making it easy to control for fine whittling and carving. I'm Very happy with the handle as well. The grain seems to run nicely parallel the blade (as it should) and no defects to speak of.
My only negative comment is that the axe head wasn't as nicely finished as I feel it could have been. There were deep grind marks on the face of the axe that could have been smoothed out. But with a little elbo grease and some sandpaper I was able to get them out.
Overall a great axe.
I'm really glad I got two. One for me and one for my cousin.
He's thrilled with it as well.
Thanks husqvarna for making a great tool at a reasonable price! :)

Buy it, and buy it from here.
I've used it now to limb some trees as well as help custom shape some 2x4s for a project. Excelled at all tasks.

It has retained its edge impossibly well. The steel quality is amazing. It will be heirloom quality once you refine the edge.

Well worth the money, the only reason I did not give five stars is because my first one had such a large space between the handle and the eye-wall, that I didn't feel the axe would stay tight on the handle after use. For such quality steel, and at such a low price though it's still an amazing value.

The real story is CPO though. I called CPO, and they provided customer service that is in my opinion unparalleled in today's retail sector. They sent a new one out immediately, no questions asked. And sent me a return label to put the defect in the mail at my leisure.

All in all this axe is a steal of a value, especially when purchasing through CPO, knowing that they replace the inevitable bad eggs that are bound to happen when otherwise excellent quality is offered at such a low price.

A life long love of axes
I use this axe every day at work. It's the best axe I have ever owned. Setting wedges, cutting brush, and falling up to 18 inch trees. This axe is always up to work. I will pass this axe on to my kids.

This axe is an outstanding piece of craftsmanship. I am a carpenter by trade and an adventure enthusiast. This axe has cloven through just about every north american hardwood there is and no matter how many times I put it to use I'm still impressed at how well it preforms. This is one of the best axes I've put to work and probably the best for the money, oh and size to power ratio is out standing. You need a good axe that won't cost hundreds this is it.

CPO Customer Service is A+
This is a exceptional Axe for the money... However I got one that slipped by Quality Control... There was space between the head and handle on both front and back of the Axe head.. Customer Service sent a RMA number strait away and all is well. Thank you CPO.

Surprisingly excellent
Straight out of the factory is pretty sharp but after some casual polishing it's a monster. Definitely NOT a tool you toss out.

Pros
Value
Great value in comparison to comparable hand forged axes.
The axe was shipped within 24 hours. I received 2 emails one to confirm the order and a second to provide a tracking number. The axe exceeded my expectations after reviewing many hour of Internet reviews and videos. I had two minor flaws it was not razor sharp but was good enough for most people. The other issue was the poll or butt of the head was not flat. All in all this is a great looking and useful tool that will be used in my outdoor adventures.

Does the edge need to be finish-sharpened or is it ready to use?
George R on Aug 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Mine arrived ready to use. I did sharpen it after returning from a two week trip into the woods.
