55 Rancher- starts every time!
Although this saw starts beautifully, runs strong, it leaks bar oil all over the place! There is no adjustment for the oil flow and it always did leak the oil into the carrying case, from day one. I was told it is an engineering flaw and the manual only states the oil tank should be emptied after each use? Also, some models are adjustable some are not? No mention of the 55 actually having an adjustment anywhere in the "manual"?
Otherwise a great running saw, just needs a diaper around it when not in use.........

The right tool for the job
For years and years, I used cheap, lightweight chainsaws around the farm. But now, those things are unusable. They're made of plastic and disappointment, and - now that the goddam government is heavily involved in power equipment - they won't even run right. So I bought a 455 Rancher, and I couldn't be happier with it. It has mad, non-stop power. It weighs more than I would prefer, but being so powerful and efficient, you're not handling a saw like this for nearly as long as a less-powerful one. I like the larger fuel and oil tanks too. Yesterday, I felled and completely cut up a medium-large dead ash tree without having to stop to refuel. This is definitely an awesome machine!

Super saws! I employ diff. size for diff. jobs. My Husqvarna's do the real work. I just stand and hold them!
Super Saw! Own bunch (like 6). Diff. sizes for diff jobs. Prefer Husqvarna for price, quality & durability. Starts on 1or 2 pulls. If not I know it’s time for clean air or fuel filter. They’re that consistently reliable. After many hrs. of use maybe a spark plug or air/fuel adjust. At 60 yrs. old I will not stand & repeatedly pull to start any saw. Do basic maintenance as described and my production exceeds younger guys. Keep my chains and bars lubricated and sharp the Saw does the work for me. I use right Saw for the job. I own Husqvarna.

Very good saw for everyday tasks.
I have used this saw for lots of storm clean up and downed trees. If the chain is sharp it will have no problem cutting through just about anything. I would stick to the 18 inch bar for average use, unless you plan on felling larger trees. Overall would highly recommend over other saws. Great all around saw.

Few issues - not with functionality
I did not get a case with the saw just a blade cover which I drilled a hole in and attached it to the handle with a bungee cord.
When changing the blade, the emergency lock got thrown accidentally and I had to take cover off and put pliers in a vice and twist the cover to pop the emergency brake back to disengage. It would have also liked to have gotten a chainsaw wrench tool as some of the nuts vibrated off and I had the chain go flying while I was cutting. Fortunately, I found a few replacement nuts and didn't get hurt. Regardless, I LOVE this saw!. I still have a Craffsman saw in it's case in my garage.. I guess it works, but I don't know for sure, because I use this one instead.

Switch broke 3rd time cutting saw off
I am using my chainsaw to clear some land to have a house built on it and I needed a very good saw I could count on. Today was my first time using it and the 3rd time I went to turn the saw off it did nothing. I had to pull the choke lever to turn it off. I was very worried because my local dealer is usually 30 days out on getting things fixed and my house is going to be started by the end of this month, it is now the 19th. So I took a chance and pulled the cover off where the spark plug and air filter is at and the wire that is on the switch is all bent up and had fell out not letting it cut the spark off. I did the best I could and hopefully the wire will stay now and I wont have any other issues. The chain saw is a little on the heavy side but I guess that is to be expected with the larger engine. It buzzed through all the hard wood I cut today with no other issues. I think maybe quality control would be the blame for the wire being bent and falling out. I don't think you would go wrong buying any of these saws.

Great saw!
I cut 6-10 cords of firewood a year. Is this a professional monster? No. But for It's power/price point it's a beautiful saw. I've has zero issues with bar oil leaks and I never release pressure from the oil tank...go figure.
Bottom line is if you keep true to the maintenance schedule, run non-ethanol fuel with the mix, this saw will likely outlive you!

Ideal saw for landowners
I've got 6 acres with plenty of trees and this is the ideal saw for someone like me. Sometimes it sits for months (like 9 or 10) but starts by the 3rd pull every time. It's easy to maintain and clean. Best of all, with a sharp chain, it'll cut anything I can carry it to! Felling, limbing, cutting firewood... you name it, it can handle it. Somebody else said it here, but it bears repeating: it cuts like a beast! Do yourself a favor - get some quality hearing and eye protection. Better yet, get an all-in-one helmet/face shield/ear cover unit. Then go get 'em!
