So far so good
This is my first gas trimmer. I and my wife previously used a battery powered trimmer that was only capable of trimming small branches. This caused our shrubs to grow larger and larger every year and got impossible to cut back to a reasonable size because the branches had got too thick for our battery trimmer. After I got this gas trimmer, I attacked the overgrown shrubs and wacked them back down to size. The trimmer feels a tad heavier than I expected but is manageable for an old seventy two year old man. My wife is afraid to use it but probably could if she really wanted to. It is easy to start. I thought it would cut through thicker branches easier than it does. It does have its limits as to how thick a branch it will cut after all it is not a chain saw. I would recommend it to anyone for home owner use. Not sure how it would stand up to every day commercial use but it probably could if it were used and maintained properly.

The unit is a lightweight option suitable for lite hedge trimming. Not anything thick or remotely thick.

I have over 100 ft of hedging. The aluminium main bracket at engine snapped in two.

Just plain weak.

I'm upgrading to top of the line husky trimmer.

Pretty good, with a few flaws
I purchased this trimmer (122hd60) a month or two ago for my small landscaping business. I needed a gasoline trimmer and this was the one recommended by my local dealer. The dealer was very nice and even started it up in the back to make sure it worked before giving it to me. The unit seems fairly powerful and is enough to cut anything I need (shrubs, bushes, etc). The starting process is simple and easy, and the unit starts without too much trouble. It does bog a lot when cold, but it will pull through and reach rpm once warmer. As far as durability, it has held up well so far, but there is a significant amount of plastic that could break eventually... Will have to see. Overall, it is a good unit and a good alternative to Echo's HC152 or Stihl's HS45. For about the same price, this model comes with the longest knife length out of the three brands.

Husquavarna 122HD 60 Trimmer (Will not start)
Trimmer purchased over a year ago and it originally started and ran for a couple trimmings. I used in early Spring (2015) and had difficulty in starting, but it finally did start and I trimmed my bushes and hedge. I cleaned clipping residue off of trimmer and placed in garden shed once all my trimming was finished. Took out again for fall trimming of bushes and hedge and it would not start. I had used all the fuel at the time of last trimming, so I believe contaminated fuel was not an issue. I refilled the tank with fresh Husqvarna fuel as I have used only the Husqvarna fuel since the time I purchased the trimmer. The fuel was an added free incentive that came with the trimmer. I took out the spark plug, checked the gap and followed procedure to start, but it still does not start. My only alternative is to take it back to where I purchased it (Sevierville COOP) and have technician try to find the problem. I would have thought I would not have such a problem, being as new and well kept when not in use that this trimmer has turned out to be
.

A Nice machine if only you could start it
First of all, I am a big fan of Husqvarna products. I have string trimmer, chain saw and blower and all have given me great performance. I particularly like the products because they always start first time I pull the cord.

That said, the hedge trimmer model 122HD60 suffers from what I believe is a major design defect. The second time I started the hedge trimmer, the starter mechanism broke. The problem is that the cord mechanism has a piece of metal that appears to contact a plastic piece for starting. Pulling on the cord fractured the plastic which appears to be very brittle. Why do companies continue to use plastic parts that will not stand up to normal use? I suspect that Husqvarna knows this is a potential problem because the manual states "pull out the cord until you feel some resistance (the starter pawls grip), now quickly and powerfully pull the cord." I followed this procedure but the plastic broke anyway.

The trimmer is in for warranty repair now. I hope this is not going to be a continual problem. This is just not a rugged tool like the chain saw and string trimmer.

I thought it was me
Wow I thought it was just mine that had the cutting out issue.
I bought them in August of 2013 and they worked great the first time I used them.
Since then I have had nothing but grief with them cutting out every time I squeeze the throttle trigger.
I use Husqvarna 50:1 premixed ethanol free fuel.
I brought them back to the dealer and he charged me $25 to go through & suggested I might have dropped something into the fuel tank.
I love my Husky backpack blower & have never had any problem with it.
I want to love this product like the 5 star reviewers but don't know what to do next.
Please help with this Huqvarna.

Excellent Product but be sure to read about Ethanol...
I started to look into a new hedge trimmer about a year ago. I've usually purchased Husqvarna products for my home use so I decided to stick with the brand that's brought me both quality and satisfaction. I read reviews, talked with other landscapers, spoke with techs from various brands. I went with the 122HD60.
Although it seemed to run alright, I did have a bit of trouble after it sat for a month with fuel mix in the tank. It wanted to stall as I applied throttle. Eventually, it did what I acquired it for, it trimmed hedges.
I stored it for the winter, but I didn't clean out the fuel tank entirely. In the 30 plus years of running small equipment, I'd never had a new tool not work after a few months of storage. What to do?
I called Husqvarna as well as spoke with my local Husq. dealer. After a few lessons about Ethanol and a freshly cleaned carburetor, my 122HD60 is ready to go.
I want you all to know it's the Ethanol in the gas that's causing any issues I've seen and dealt with. The Husq. people were very understanding as well as my local tech.
Thanks for making another quality product.
